FAQ's

Is travel time included in the fees?

Is travel time included in the fees?

Is travel time included in the fees?

Nope. Our hours/fees are fishing hours. You pay for fly fishing guding services not driving.

The clock starts at the meeting point which is usually at the river or close to it. "And there are two things we're never late for in Montana..."

How many people can go?

Is travel time included in the fees?

Our wade fees/trips are for 1-2 people to maximize instruction and streamside coaching. We're happy to consider a party of 3 people (ex. parent and 2 kids). Upper Delaware drift boat trips are for 2 people.

How far are the rivers you fish?

Should I book a full or half day?

You should budget 45-60 minutes to most meeting points in NJ. We're often fishing near Califon, Hackettstown, Peaquest, Blairstown, and Buttzville. Yes, Buttzville. Figure 2 hours to the Delaware River Club in Starlight, PA.

Should I book a full or half day?

What fish species do you fish for?

Should I book a full or half day?

Full days just give you more options should we need to move to another spot or river to find "happy" fish. Also, the first hour is often a workshop for those new to fly fishing. A full day gives you more time to use what you learned.

Will I have a Brad Pitt moment?

What fish species do you fish for?

We love "A River Runs Through It" too, but dry fly fishing is spotty in NJ. Dry fly fishing happens mostly at dawn or dusk. You should expect that we'll be nymphing most of the time. If you really want dry fly action, let's talk about an Upper Delaware trip.

What fish species do you fish for?

What fish species do you fish for?

What fish species do you fish for?

Most of the time we're fishing for wild and stocked brown and rainbow trout. In the warmer months, we may do some topwater fishing for bass and bluegill on nearby lakes and ponds.

Can I bring spinning gear?

What other gear should we bring?

What other gear should we bring?

Sorry, but no. We specialize in fly fishing and helping people learn this wonderful sport. We have gear you can use to explore your interest before your invest in your own stuff. We use Orvis, Sage, and TFO rods and reels.

What other gear should we bring?

What other gear should we bring?

What other gear should we bring?

Lunch and an extra set of dry clothes just in case you take an unwanted bath. Polarized sunglasses are a must. Otherwise, we'll have everything you need. Lunch is included on Upper Delaware drift boat float trips.

How much walking will we do?

What other gear should we bring?

How much walking will we do?

On wade trips, we'll likely move up and down a river to find the right water and pockets that will give us the best chance of success. Plan on at least 2 miles of walking on a full-day wade trip.
